PROGRAMS / CURRICULUM: Our teachers arrange the environment and implement activities which center around a child-directed, hands on approach to learning with free exploration and open discussion. We implement the "theme" approach in our teaching, in which teachers select a specific topic of study and integrate it into the various areas of the classroom. The curriculums are designed to meet the individual needs of each child's development and are based on teacher observations of the class. Each week teachers determine if changes to the environment are needed based on their observations of the children's play. Throughout the day, children are given the choice to participate in art, science, blocks, dramatic play, computer, literature, music, sensory, woodworking, and large and small motor activities. Children also play outdoors twice daily in our large playground. Play activities on our playground include a natural, cedar playscape, sand and gravel box with various digging implements, ride toys, dramatic play accessories, climber, balance beam, sensory activities, balls and playhouse. |

The younger classrooms in divided into several learning centers. These include books,
sensory, dramatic play, blocks, manipulatives, and art. The teachers create weekly
lesson plans based on themes, which they incorporate into the centers of the classroom.
Most of indoor time is spent in free choice center play, where the children are able
to choose which centers they want to explore and how much time they spend there.
There is a teacher directed time each morning, circle time, in which the children sit
together as a group and sing songs, play counting and/or letter games and have a
special activity that changes daily. Children also play outdoors in our large
tree-shaded playground several times a day. In the summer we have Splash Days
with a sprinkler on the playground twice a week. All children bring their own
lunches, and we provide morning and afternoon snacks each day.

pets. The teachers create weekly lesson plans based on themes, which they incorporate
into the centers of the classroom. Most of indoor time is spent in free choice center
play, where the children are able to choose which centers they want to explore and how
much time they spend there. There is a teacher directed time each morning and afternoon,
circle time, in which the children sit together as a group and sing songs, play counting
and/or letter games and have a special activity that changes daily. Children also play
outdoors in our large tree-shaded playground several times a day. Our special summer
activities include Splash Days with a sprinkler on the playground twice a week and
gardening, with the help of our parent volunteers. There is an optional Spanish
class each week provided by Spanish Inspirations (www.spanishinspirations.com).
The class is 45 minutes long and includes music, art, a large motor activity,
vocabulary lesson, and books. The tuition for Spanish class is $33.00 a month. All
children bring their own lunches, and we provide morning and afternoon snacks each day.
